2013 apa conference map
project // map designed for the 2013 American Planning Association conference
I volunteered to help members of the Gays and Lesbians in Planning (GALIP) Division of the American Planning Association (APA) with their mobile workshop on economic development in lgbt communities at the 2013 APA conference in Chicago. In addition to simply helping to wrangle the group and providing anecdotal information throughout the workshop, I offered to create a map of the workshop locations and their proximity to public transportation (namely the CTA Red Line). This map is the final product that was given to participants.
This map was designed using ArcGIS 10.1. My goal here was simplicity. Thinking of this trip as an outsider, I imagined which landmarks might be most important while trying to convey proximity to transit, especially for any participants who got lost during the outing.
